Artist's Statement

The beauty within people and the natural world inspire me. I enjoy the creative journey of research, exploration and the sharing of these discoveries through my artworks.

Canvas and acrylic paint are my preference. My loyalty to this medium refines my skills over years of portrait painting and themed exhibitions. My work is photo based which serves as a reference point for the illusive moment, gesture or light. I love to carve form with colour. Transparent layers of glazes and potent colours capture the vitality I see.

My work questions and celebrates the world I perceive. Nature teaches me about life, nourishes and challenges. I am committed to express the beauty of the human condition and the mysteries of nature. I revel in exploring the human psyche's foundations built in part from societal myths and archetypal patterns.
