The show is fascinating, thought-provoking, and sprinkled with humour as Z.inc artist' collective are known to be.. None of the seven artists knew what the others were creating until we installed the show (except Lesley Garratt who kindly curated).. We had a great turnout with many interesting conversations at the opening celebration. Thanks to all!
Are you wondering what a CHIMERA means? 3 interpretations follow:
1: a capitalized : a fire-breathing she-monster in Greek mythology having a lion's head, a goat's body, a serpent's tail or generally an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts
2 : an illusion, utopia, or fabrication of the mind; especially: an unrealizable dream a fancy
3 : an individual, organ, or part consisting of tissues of diverse genetic constitution A hybrid created with DNA of two different species combined into one embryo
An historical note: The word chimera dates back to the 14th century, where it referred to a fire-breathing she-monster from Greek mythology.
Artists: Elizabeth Carefoot, Willa Downing, Lesley Garratt, Reuban Kambeitz, Cora Li-Leger, Claire Moore, Deborah Putman (Collective Artists, Don Li-Leger and Jennifer Clark were not participants for this show but shall return for future endeavours!)
